The Law Society of Ireland's Preliminary Examination Preparatory Course
|
| |
| Course Description
|
|
This course is designed for those who wish to sit the Law Society of Ireland's Final Examination (Part One) (Entrance Examinations) but are not in possession of an approved degree and do not fit within one of the exemptions laid down by the Law Society . There are three exam elements which must be passed in one sitting:
· Irish Politics
· General Knowledge
· English
The Preliminary Examination is prescribed by the Law Society to ensure that candidates who go on to sit the Law Society of Ireland's Final Examination (Part One) have sufficient knowledge about the Irish political system, general knowledge about Ireland and a good standard of writing - which is essential both for exam success and for work as a solicitor.
This course will emphasise coverage of the very extensive Irish Politics syllabus while developing the student's general knowledge about Irish institutional governance and other topics for the general knowledge paper. Students will be provided with a course manual which will act a synopsis of the material to be covered in preparation for the exams. They will also have the opportunity to submit written work on a weekly basis to ensure their writing skills are developing in order to satisfy the format and style required of this type of exam.
