Overview
This course provides a lively, topical and interesting introduction to the world of Psychology in general. The programme covers the major themes in contemporary Psychology and introduces participants to the principal sub-fields and applications of the discipline.
Meet the Lecturer - Dr Arlene Egan
Arlene is a Performance Psychologist, who has specialised educational training in the areas of sports and cognitive psychology. Apart from developing programmes for education, conducting research and writing, Arlene is also a qualified psychological coach. In this capacity she works with individuals and teams focusing on performance enhancement. She has also extensive third level teaching experience in areas such as general psychology, sports psychology, forensic psychology and courses on teaching and learning. Arlene is currently heavily involved in delivering programmes on creativity and innovation to second level transition year students. Her book, ‘Teaching Thinking Skills at Third Level’ helps people to understand the need to support students in the development of their thinking skills in order to ensure a satisfactory third level educational experience.
