Overview
This course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career in sports journalism but also for sports fans who would like to understand the way sports are reported.
All the areas of sports journalism are covered with particular emphasis on feature writing, sports news writing, match reporting, broadcast media and finding angles/colour in your writing.
Meet the Lecturers
Malachy Clerkin (Week 1-6: Sports Reporting and Sports Writing)
Malachy Clerkin has been a sports writer with The Sunday Tribune since 1999 and has covered any and every sport since then. He is a regular contributor to radio and TV sports programmes and is the author (with Ger Siggins) of Lansdowne Road: The Stadium, the matches, the greatest days.
Joe Molloy (Weeks 7-12: Radio Sports Journalism)
Joe Molloy is the producer of Newstalk FM’s Saturday sports coverage. He has previously worked as a reporter on Newstalk’s show, The Right Hook and as sports presenter on Kildare FM.
