BA (Hons) in Creative Digital Media: On this course, you will develop expertise in media production, event design, audience research and media criticism. You will become a flexible producer of content for digital media networks, developing excellent presentation and organisational skills. From the very beginning of the course, you will engage with the city of Dublin and its digital and cultural landscape, with a strong emphasis on field work and internships. You will make and create content for media projects, including digital photographic, video and web-based work and your work will be exhibited in digital and traditional forms.

MSc International Tourism Management: The MSc programme comprises a combination of business and management modules, together with modules covering critical aspects of tourism and events management, and a dissertation. It is anticipated that many students will be taking this Masters as a conversion programme and may previously have studied related generic or vocational degrees (e.g. Leisure Management, Business Studies).

*LL.B (Hons) Irish Law with Accounting: The LL.B (Hons) Irish Law with Accounting degree is a four year undergraduate programme in the study of Irish law and accounting. As a dual disciplinary degree programme students have the flexibility of catering their study towards either the legal or accountancy professions or a combination of both. The programme will provide students with a basis to pursue a career in business or law thereby expanding the potential career opportunities for graduates of the programme.

*BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance: Both Accounting and Finance are core components of insuring the success of any business entity. The BA programme provides each student with an in-depth knowledge of the area of accounting and finance as well as the practical skills, both of which are essential in the rapidly changing and highly competitive world of business. This in turn then creates a number of opportunities for advancement within a whole range of organisations.

*BA (Hons) in Marketing: The main objectives of this programme is the provision of a comprehensive educational framework covering the requirements and operation of all aspects of the marketing and sales functions in business organisations, and the major changes taking place in their theory and practice. The marketing function, in particular, has been the subject of significant change in recent years through various developments, for instance the growth of viral marketing, social networking and related developments. An important aim of this programme is to provide for students a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to enable them to become effective marketing professionals in this changing environment.

Work-based Learning

Through partnerships between International College Dublin and local and regional employers, students will have the opportunity to undertake work-based learning as part of their Masters degree, enabling them to apply theory to practice and develop their personal and professional skills. All students will study project management and may opt to undertake a significant work-based project as part of their study.

This programme aims to equip students with the in-depth knowledge and intellectual skills to synthesise and apply relevant theoretical concepts in the context of international tourism development and management. It also seeks to provide students with the opportunity to further develop their abilities to think critically, to evaluate, to deal with complex tourism-related problems and issues and in doing so to become informed practitioners. The programme adopts a multi-disciplinary perspective in examining tourism as an industry and as a global phenomenon with the intention of preparing students to secure managerial positions in a variety of organisations, from transnational corporations to small- and medium-sized enterprises and organisations involved in policy-making and tourism development.

In the four years since its inception students undertaking the FE1 course have achieved a total of 21 Law Society Entrance Examinations 1st placed prizes. This includes the Overend Prize for Best Overall Student Performance in three of the past four years.

Independent Colleges’ King’s Inns Entrance Examination preparatory course is delivered annually in Dublin and online. This course, which boasts an exceptional lecturing team and the most up-to-date study manuals, has been specifically designed in order to maximise the likelihood of excelling in these examinations.

The King’s Inns’ Barrister-at-Law degree has been revised to incorporate a new vocational approach. The aim of the course is to enable students to acquire and develop the skills, knowledge and values needed to become an effective member of the Bar. It is a practical, interactive course which bridges the gap between the academic study of law and the practice of law.

All course materials have been fully updated to reflect recent key developments in the law.

On successful completion of the degree course, students are conferred with the degree of Barrister-at-Law. Only holders of the degree may be called to the Bar by the Chief Justice and admitted to practice in the Courts of Ireland as a member of the Bar of Ireland (elements extracted from the Honorable Society of King’s Inns’ website).
